DAYS 1-4

City of Light

·        See some of the world's greatest art at the Louvre, including the Mona Lisa and Winged Victory

·        Want some of the best city views? Climb to the top of Arc de Triomphe, or take an elevator up the Eiffel Tower

·        Visit the great cathedral of Notre-Dame, which sits along the banks of the Seine

DAY 5

Grandest Palace in France

·        Stroll down the Hall of Mirrors, which is 240 feet long and lined with 17 enormous mirrors

·        Be dazzled by the opulent and over-the-top King's Apartments and Queen's Bedchamber, decorated with silk, murals, chandeliers, and ostrich plumes

·        For some fresh air, head outside to the Parc de Versailles. During its creation, rivers were diverted and entire forests replanted

 

DAYS 6-7

Fabulous Food and Wine

·        Walk around Vieux Lyon, which has one of the richest groups of Renaissance dwellings in Europe

·        The Presqui'île, a peninsula flanked by two rivers, is where you'll find the modern core of the city

·        Explore the early Roman towns of Vienne and Valence, which reflect the Rhône's importance as a trading route

DAYS 8-10

Cézanne Country

·        Pay homage to native son Cézanne at his former studio, the Atelier Cézanne

·        Explore the extravagant Pavillion de Vendôme, a Baroque villa

·        Visit the Cathédrale St-Sauveur, which juxtaposes a staggering number of architectural styles at once

 

DAYS 11-12

The Jet Set Life

·        See more than 300 of Picasso's sea and mythology-inspired works at the Musée Picasso, housed inside a château

·        Hike along the clifftop Sentier Tirepoil footpath for some of the best views of the crashing surf

·        Explore the sumptuous Villa Eilenroc at the tip of Cap d'Antibes to see where Greta Garbo and Aristotle Onassis once spent the night

 

DAY 13

Pastel Perfection

·        Walk along the seaside Promenade des Anglais in Nice, an iconic Riviera experience

·        See a massive collection of Henri Matisse's work at the Musée Matisse

·        Visit the Musée Renoir in Haut-de-Cagnes, housed in a villa where the artist lived for the last 12 years of his life

·        The Château Grimaldi dominates the Vieille Ville, and is filled with a quirky collection of art and medieval treasures

 

DAY 14

Island in the Sky

·        Walk around Èze to enjoy the arched passages, stone alleyways, and ancient fountains

·        The Jardin Exotique is home to rare species, and offers panoramic views of the sea and hills

·        Pick one of the town's many footpaths to explore; the Sentier Friedrich Nietzsche is one of the most scenic
